Why Singapore?

The Natural Disasters Expo - Asia, will be the 2nd edition in the world series, following on from the 1st edition Natural Disasters Expo - USA, taking place in Miami, Florida on 10th-11th February 2021.

PRYSM Group identified Singapore as the best host nation for NDE Asia for a variety of reasons:

LOCATION

Situated in South-East Asia, yet just outside the Pacific Rim of Fire, Singapore is fortunate enough to avoid most major natural disasters such as typhoons, floods, volcanic eruptions, and earthquakes. This makes the small nation an anomaly among its regional neighbours, which include many of the world’s most disaster prone nations. Singapore’s central location in the region makes it a convenient location for visitors from the ASEAN and SAARC nations of SE-Asia and S-Asia, as well as from Far-East Asia and Oceania nations. The increasing prevalence of natural catastrophes and the impacts of climate change means that disaster mitigation and management remain at the top of the agenda for the majority of governments in the region.

INTERNATIONAL STATUS

Although Singapore does not enshrine neutrality as a principle of its foreign policy, its defacto even-handedness has made it a popular venue for highstakes international events. A close strategic partner of the United States in South-East Asia, Singapore also maintains a close relationship with China, making it a neutral ground where politics are put aside. In recent years, it has pursued a balanced foreign policy, seeking to avoid getting caught up in the geopolitical competition. Singapore does however have actively promoted the implementation of progressive new strategies and technologies, leading the world in the fields of engineering and environmental technologies.

Factors such as strategic location, a competitive workforce, pro-business environment, and forward looking economic policies have enabled Singapore to become a key regional hub. As a result, Singapore hosts the Asia regional branch offices of many of the world’s top companies. This means that the influence of the Singapore based decision makers attending the event will reach far beyond the nation’s borders, since many of the local stakeholders also represent assets and interests in other countries in the region.
